I still believe that the best things in education cannot be measured. I loved this year’s Christmas concert but I am not sure how you can "measure" it as a success, except for the great pleasure and enjoyment it gave the performers and the audience as well as the great sense of community which it engenders in Island School. - David James Islanders Newsletter from David James - December 2003 - by David James - NEW!
Hong Kong has witnessed some unprecedented scenes over the last six months. First of all in July half a million people took to the streets, the Headmaster included, to protest against the government’s implementation of an anti-subversion law, Article 23 of the Basic Law. The government was visibly shaken although the demonstration was peaceful. It was, in fact, great fun and took me back to my student days. The route was supposed to take half of Hennessy Road but police soon closed the whole of Hennessy Road and because of the numbers, ended up closing the waterfront expressway. The route which I took to Central was six lanes of highway filled with people of all ages, in the best of spirits and as orderly as could be. It was quite exhilarating. - David James Islanders Bulletin Board

This non-graphics-intensive site is based on PHP and Mysql. As usual it is best viewed with Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer 5.x. But very little advanced layout or programming is involved, so it can be viewed on any browser from the first version of Lynx to the latest bloatware from Netscape. The web browser you are currently using is not outdated at all. Nor do you need a big monitor with millions of colours. A B/W terminal will do just fine, as will any pocket computer or PDA screen. There is also no java, javascript or looping music files to make your browser hang. And no frames (yet), so you can resize your windows any way you like. Hope you enjoy this website. If your monitor has difficulty with the background colours, please send a message to info@ishk.org. The decolorized version of the site has been disabled.
